                         Broken Heart

After ten feet or so,
       you stopped.
Turned towards me
and the eyes under your raised brow shone stark
blue from the sun behind me.

Your mouth had its smile-smirk-grin face on,
with the left to one side, slightly overdone.

As I saw this,
your induced cardiomyopathy was slowing me
       down.
The blow, although expected, made all the blood from
       my chest rush upwards.
Its sweetness overflowed my tongue’s chamber and my
       nose.

While you posed there, sledge-hammer on your back,
like a construction worker at the end
of the shift admiring his job,
I thought of your accomplishment as sloppy
       and rushed,
Because I was still choking, unable to die
       already!

Twisting a cliche

Edit: tweaked it a bit according to *VictorCarbon's suggestions.
Cardiomyopathy literally means "heart muscle disease"

Ooo. Some really good stuff here. I love the provocative details, the play in the language, the irony. It's a good execution of a clever concept. :)

Thank you. I would have never thought of this if I hadn't received the "twist a cliche" homework.
